Chip Yensan has been the Charlotte Research Institute Associate Director since August of 2012. He served as CRI’s chief representative during the construction of the PORTAL industry-university partnership building and was instrumental in its successful opening. He has been involved with numerous CRI initiatives and is responsible for the administrative operations of the unit.
Prior to his employment at UNC Charlotte, Chip served as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Housing and Residential Life at the University of Rhode Island. During his 21 years at URI, Chip led the physical and programmatic transformation of its on-campus student living program. He oversaw upgrades to various campus life facilities and operations, including approximately $250M in renovation and new construction work.
Chip has served as President, Treasurer, and Member-at-Large of NEACUHO, the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) northeastern affiliate professional organization. He also served as Host Chair for both NEACUHO and ACUHO-I annual conferences. Chip has a BA from UMass Dartmouth, MA in College Administration from Michigan State University, and MBA from the University of Connecticut.
